Year 2006

First gold.

Year 2006, Rubin met with the new president. In the autumn of 2005, the head of the club became Alexander P. Gusev, who changed Kamil Iskhakov. The team got a task in the championship of Russia to take place which will again allow it to take part in European cup competitions. In August Rubin the second time in its history played in UEFA Cup. In the second qualifying round Kazan easily passed Belarusian BATE (3:0 at home and 2:0 away). The next stage Kazan lost to Parma from Italy (both matches 0:1). Russian Championship Rubin finished on fifth position, which allowed it to play next season in Intertoto Cup.

In the season-2007, again there was a major refurbishment of the team. Rubin filled up a whole group of players, but only some of them remained in the team next season, 2008. All because of the failure of performance of the team: 10-th position in the championship of Russia and the defeat in UEFA Intertoto Cup from old rivals Rapid. The season was marred by the death of defender Lenar Gilmullin. Lenar was the only pupil of Rubin, participating at the time for the first team.

In season 2008, Rubin celebrated a half-century anniversary. Preparing for it began in 2007. In the off-season management of the club held a serious breeding work. To the team were invited players with great experience of performing at a high level, such as: Sergei Semak, Savo Milosevic, Sergei Rebrov. Fit well into collective Turkish midfielder Gekdeniz Karadeniz, a defender from Argentina Cristian Ansaldi, goalkeeper Sergei Ryzhikov. Returned to the team its veteran defender Roman Sharonov. Even at the entry interval of the championship Rubin made an application for a successful entry, won seven consecutive victories. Later, during the whole tournament Kazan reaffirmed its claim to the highest places. And for three rounds before the end of the championship Rubin for the first time in its history, became the Champion of Russia.

In the season-2009 Rubin for the first time had to defend the title. In the off-season Kazan invited defender Cesar Navas from Spain, as well as a number of Russian players. Before the start of the championship, returned to Rubin Alejandro Dominguez. Left  the team veterans Savo Milosevic and Sergei Rebrov. In May, Kazan first came to the final of the Cup of Russia, but lost to CSKA. All agreed to a goal conceded in the last minute. In Autumn Rubin first started in UEFA Champions League. Kazan beat famous Spanish Barcelona in its field with a score 2:1 and finished the group stage in third place. This allowed Rubin to continue its participation in Europa League. The most striking event of the fall of 2009 became the second gold medals of Russian Championship.
